2025-2026 Course Catalog

Correctional Officer Advanced Certificate (019B)

The Correctional Officer Advanced Certificate builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the Correctional Officer Basic Certificate, offering more specialized coursework for those seeking to advance their careers in the correction field. In addition to correctional officer basics, the program includes in-depth training in investigative reporting, where students learn the techniques for documenting incidents, writing detailed reports, and conducting thorough investigations within correctional settings. The course work in probation and parole prepares students to understand the processes of supervising offenders outside of correctional facilities, focusing on rehabilitation, rick assessment, and reintegration into society. This advanced certificate equips graduates with the expertise to take on intermediate roles in corrections, such as parole officers or investigators, providing a comprehensive understanding of both institutional and community-based corrections.
