NURS 165 Medical-Surgical Nursing I

examines fundamental concepts of nursing practice across the lifespan. Biophysical and psychosocial care needs will be presented with an emphasis on concepts of immunity, inflammation, infection, cellular regulation, metabolism, sensory perception, and mobility. Principles of health promotion, wellness, and safety along with safe medication administration practices will be reinforced. Clinical experiences will focus on medical and surgical principles throughout the adult lifespan (ages 18 through death). This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees (credit hours 5.5, lecture hours 3.0, lab hours 5.0).

completion of NURS 110, NURS 111, NURS 115, Psych 110, and BIOL 201 and completion of or concurrent enrollment in NURS 154, NURS 162, and BIOL 202 or admission to the LPN Bridge Program
