Automotive Transmission and Driveline Specialist Certificate (071F)

The Automotive Transmission and Driveline Specialist certificate provides an overview of basic automotive skills and terminology. Students will learn definitions of common automotive terms, proper care and use of tools, and safety precautions and procedures in the shop. Additionally, this certificate includes information on diagnosis, service, cleaning, and inspection of transmissions and drivelines. It also introduces students to the terms and components involved in maintenance and service of automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, and drivelines. Students will study the basic parts and operation of transmissions and drivelines, including safety tips, service, and repair, and diagnostic procedure. Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to perform the duties usually required of service technicians and specialize in transmission repair at many dealerships, garages, and transmission shops. 

 

Certificates less than 16 credit hours are not eligible for financial aid.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Total Credit Hours: 15 credit hours in courses numbered 100 and above
  2. Cumulative Grade Point Average: 2.00 (‘C’) or better for all work applicable toward the degree that was completed at Richland
  3. Residency: 8 credit hours or more at Richland Community College
