NURS 262 Medical-Surgical Nursing III
examines advanced concepts of nursing practice across the lifespan with a focus on providing safe, competent, and holistic evidence-based care for clients with complex conditions and disease processes. Concepts of altered oxygenation, perfusion, gas exchange, fluid and electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, clotting, metabolism, nutrition, tissue integrity, comfort, and grief and loss will be emphasized. Safe medication administration practices will be reinforced. Clinical experiences will focus on emergent and critical care principles throughout the adult lifespan (ages 18 through death). This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees (credit hours 5.5, lecture hours 3.0, lab hours 5.0).
Prerequisite
completion of NURS 216, NURS 240, NURS 230, and ENGL 101 and completion of or concurrent enrollment in NURS 280, HLTH 290, and BIOL 220
