NURS 240 Medical-Surgical Nursing II
examines concepts of nursing practice across the lifespan. Emphasis will be placed on advanced concepts related to alterations in fluids and electrolytes, elimination, and nutrition. Concepts for immunity, infection, inflammation, comfort, and perfusion will also be addressed. Principles of safe medication administration practices will be reinforced. Clinical experiences will focus on medical and surgical principles throughout the adult lifespan (ages 18 through death). This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees (credit hours 5.5, lecture hours 3.0, lab hours 5.0).
Prerequisite
completion of NURS 162, NURS 154, NURS 165, and BIOL 202 and completion of or concurrent enrollment in NURS 216, NURS 230, and ENGL 101
