SURGT 110 Introduction to Surgical Technology
introduces students to the role of a surgical technologist. Students examine the profession's history and evolution and begin an overview as a member of the surgical team. Hospital management, the physical aspects of the operating suite, basic patient care concepts, safety and environmental issues, all-hazards preparation, ethical and legal issues, morals, and standards of conduct are emphasized. This course is applicable toward all certificates, AAS, ALS (credit hours 2.0, lecture hours 2.0).

completion of
BIOL 101, admission to Surgical Technology AAS Program, completion of or concurrent enrollment in
BIOL 220,
ENGL 101, and
HLTH 140, [grade of 'C' or higher] or approval of the Surgical Technology Program Director
