IT 272 UNIX Fundamentals

is an introduction to the fundamentals of Network Operating Systems, focusing on UNIX/Linux. Students will learn how to use the UNIX operating system while operating inside a Red Hat environment. This course introduces the Common Desktop Environment (CDE) and includes such topics as learning the fundamental command-line interface, UNIX directory and file system management, file system security, features and customizing Korn and C shells, basic network administration in UNIX, Applications Manager, Style Manager, Text editor, printing, and electronic mail. This course is for new users of the UNIX environment and CDE and incorporates hand-on learning through numerous lab projects using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. This course is applicable toward all certificates, AAS, ALS (credit hours 3.0, lecture hours 2.0, lab hours 2.0).
