HORT 175 Hydroponics and Indoor Growing
is designed to provide students with an introduction to horticultural principles as they apply to the culture, use, and management of plants in various hydroponic and indoor production situations. Students will gain an understanding of how these systems operate and receive hands-on practical experience growing plants using multiple systems. Topics include the introduction of hydroponics and aquaponics, water quality, nutrient dynamics, light requirements, and appropriate plant variety for system types. At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to apply knowledge and skills to grow hydroponic vegetables and herbs. This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees (credit hours 3.0, lecture hours 2.0, lab hours 2.0).
