AFAM 100 Intro to African American Studies
surveys the history and culture of African-Americans that introduce students to foundational information on the humanistic approach in the study of African-American heritage, life, struggles, tragedies and successes. The course considers language, literature, the fine and performance arts, historical analyses, religion, philosophy, and the humanities in African-American rich heritage. Successful completion of formal writing assignments is necessary for completion of the course. This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees; group requirements include social science; areas of concentration include African-american studies (credit hours 3.0, lecture hours 3.0).
