ENGT 220 Process Control Applications

is a practical, hands-on class, centered on the study and application of instrumentation and process controls and systems in the industrial environment. This course assumes the student has prior knowledge of basic instrumentation and process control systems. Topics include "smart" instrumentation, valves and actuators, ratio control, cascaded control loops, PLC control, analog I/O, PH, conductivity, and an introduction to HMI/SCADA systems. Quizzes are given regularly and include lab activities. Selected lab activities will be taken for grades. The course emphasizes the on-the-job knowledge and skills required to troubleshoot and maintain modern process control systems. Safe work habits are emphasized throughout the course. This course is applicable toward all certificates, AAS, ALS (credit hours 3.0, lecture hours 2.0, lab hours 2.0).
