2025-2026 Course Catalog

Coding Specialist Certificate (230A)

The Coding Specialist Certificate program focuses on developing specialized skills in medical coding for inpatient, outpatient, and physician-based services. Students learn to apply coding systems such as ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II, which are used for medical billing, insurance claims, and health data analytics. This certificate is ideal for individuals already working in the coding field and/or those looking to advance their careers in health information without committing to a full degree. New students to the field should start with the Health Information Technology degree to obtain their RHIT credentials. Completing this certificate can lead to coding certifications like the Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
